From the outset the principal agreed that in order for the practice to continue to appeal to his private patient base it needed a complete makeover and an image overhaul. It also needed to be remodelled in order to comply with current standards.
We incorporated an additional Treatment Room on the Ground Floor and a dedicated Sterilisation facility. Certain compromises had to be made. One of these was the conversion of the First Floor Office to form a separate Staff and Decontamination Room. Another was the loss of the ground floor storage/filing area to make way for the new treatment room.
We removed the heavy dark wooden paneling in the stairwell and woodchip finish was removed. The domestic-looking timber handrail was replaced with a modern glazed alternative. We introduced vinyl motifs on the stairwell and one of the treatment room walls, as a contemporary alternative to framed prints. The practice appears more spacious despite the increase in the number of rooms. It is a calm and uncluttered environment.
